Music Industry Supports Los Angeles Fire Recovery with ‘Sweet Relief’ Benefit Concert

As Los Angeles continues its recovery from devastating wildfires, the music industry is playing a vital role in supporting those affected. High-profile artists, including Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, and Live Nation, have contributed to FireAid, a benefit concert dedicated to relief efforts. Additionally, organizations such as The Recording Academy's MusiCares, The Songwriters of North America Foundation (SONA)'s Songwriters Fund, Backline, and the NAMM Foundation have joined the cause, providing crucial assistance to music professionals impacted by the fires.

At the heart of these efforts is Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, a non-profit focused on aiding music industry workers in times of crisis. On March 6, the organization will partner with Musicians for Fire Relief to host a global livestream concert and auction, raising funds for those affected by the wildfires.

A Global Concert for Local Recovery

The livestream event, presented by Cause Concerts, will feature performances from a lineup of artists, including Dawes, Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Moby, Goose, Butch Walker, Pete Yorn, and Margaret Cho. Other performers include Dan Wilson (Semisonic), Fran Healy (Travis), Nathan East, Chris Pierce, Asdru Sierra (Ozomatli), and Lol Tolhurst (co-founder of The Cure).

Hosted by radio personality Nic Harcourt, with interviews by Lyndsey Parker and Steve Baltin, the event will celebrate Los Angeles’ deep musical history while generating funds for those in need.

Auction Raises Additional Support

In addition to the livestream, an exclusive auction will offer signed memorabilia and music gear. Items include autographed vinyl from "Weird Al" Yankovic and Davey Havok (AFI), REMO drum heads signed by legendary drummer James Gadson, a Focusrite Audio Recording Interface, a Novation MIDI controller, Adam Studio Headphones, Squire Stratocaster guitar signed by Red Hot Chili Peppers, and concert tickets for major festivals. New auction items will be added daily until bidding closes on the night of the event.

Ongoing Relief Efforts

Sweet Relief Musicians Fund has also been involved in other fire recovery initiatives. Earlier this year, the organization released Super Bloom: A Benefit for Los Angeles Fire Relief, with all proceeds going to local mutual aid groups. Additionally, a partnership with Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace ensures that a portion of ticket sales supports Sweet Relief’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund, which provides grants for medical expenses, housing, food, utilities, and other basic necessities for music professionals in crisis.

As Los Angeles rebuilds, the music industry continues to mobilize resources, ensuring that those affected by the wildfires receive the support they need.
